Loews Hotels in Denver and Nashville are offering guests a helping hand with their health as more and more people seek specialized medical attention out of town.
We can not promise medical miracles, but we are on the cutting edge of meeting the needs of patients looking for the "comforts of home" during their recovery process.
Need an ice pack for a surgically repaired knee? No problem! Need a reclining bed for that tender back? Coming right up! Can’t drive and need transportation to an area hospital? Sit back and relax because a car is on the way.
Upon arrival, guests can even look forward to pictures of loved ones waiting in their rooms - a touch of home away from home, along with select pillows, a decorative comforter, microwave or refrigerator, simply by making arrangements ahead of time.
"We just want our guests to be comfortable so the only thing they have to worry about is getting better," says Elaine Taubin, executive chef at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel. "Our kitchen can easily handle any food request, from no-salt chicken broth with brown rice to popsicles and crackers. Our kitchen is stocked."
Loews can provide something to satisfy every palate in a medically appropriate way. Other healthful menu items include: jell-o, fruit, eggs, grilled cheese, poached or seared chicken breast, graham crackers, smoothies, ginger ale, tea, toast, ice cream, fruit juices and pudding. Special dietary requests are a Loews specialty.
Besides its vast selection of food, Loews offers an array of services and items to speed recovery and make patients as comfortable as possible while they heal, including ice packs, heating pads and special reclining chairs or beds. A dedicated concierge will be assigned to guests from check-in to departure. Complimentary transportation to area hospitals within a several-mile radius is provided.
The list of benefits for guests recovering from medical treatment is seemingly endless. Put a check mark beside delivery and storage of oxygen tanks or prescription drug pick-up with doctor approval. Even massage and salon services are available.
"When you are not feeling well, the fewer things a guest has to worry about the sooner he or she will start to feel better, and they will be more comfortable during the recovery process," General Manager Ellen Seymore of Loews Denver says. "Our first wish is always good health for our guests. But when medical attention is needed, we are here to help in any way we can. Whatever their needs, all they have to do is ask."
Loews selected Denver and Nashville to unveil this program because major hospitals are in close proximity to both hotels. Denver features Rose Medical Hospital, National Jewish Hospital and Porter Hospital. Renowned Vanderbilt Medical Center, along with Baptist Hospital, St. Thomas Medical Center and Centennial Medical Center, are near Loews Vanderbilt.
